Welcome to CCAC Waste Initiative – Network of Cities in India
The Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) is a voluntary partnership of governments, intergovernmental organizations, businesses, scientific institutions and civil society organizations committed to improving air quality and protecting the climate through actions to reduce short-lived climate pollutants such as Methane and Black carbon.
The initiative, by bringing together technical experts and policy-makers at all levels, aims to help 1000 cities to develop robust waste management systems by 2020 that will reduce SLCP emissions and deliver multiple co-benefits.
The CCAC Indian Cities’ Network will provide support to Indian cities involved in improving their solid waste management as part of this initiative and also act as a platform to enable knowledge sharing on best practices as well as failures. Member cities would be invited for capacity building activities including webinars on priority areas identified. The network would act as knowledge integration platform for waste management related activities in India. Presently, the Indian Cities’ Network involves Delhi, Coimbatore, Jaipur, and Bangalore. TERI is at the various stages of finalizing involvement of Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai with the network.
The network is also open to expanding its membership. Cities interested in joining the Waste Initiative on a voluntary basis can reach out to TERI at [email protected]
